What Makes a Real Diver

ISO 6425 is the international standard. To wear the "Diver's" label, a watch must:

• Survive 125% of its depth rating during testing.
• Carry a unidirectional bezel readable at 25cm in the dark.
• Have legible indices and hands visible at 25cm in pitch black.
• Pass salt-spray, magnetic and shock resistance tests.
• Carry the word "Divers" (no apostrophe) on the dial.

Most "200m" fashion divers fail at the bezel and lume tests. Look for the Diver's marking before you trust the depth rating.
