Humidity Damage in India

India's humidity is brutal on mechanical watches. Coastal Mumbai, monsoon Kerala, AC condensation in offices — all create conditions watches weren't designed for.

Early warning signs

• Fog under the crystal at temperature changes.
• Hands turning brown or developing spots.
• Hour markers losing lume colour.
• Faint corrosion ring around the crown.

Prevention

• Annual pressure-test (₹500 at any AD).
• Replace gaskets at every service.
• Silica gel in your watch box, replace every 6 months.
• Avoid showering with any watch under 100m WR.
