Limited Edition Fatigue

In 2024 there were 1,800+ limited-edition watch releases globally — up from 600 in 2014. Buyers are tired.

Why fatigue set in

• "Limited" no longer scarce — every brand drops 5–15 LEs annually.
• Numbered casebacks (1/100, 2/100) no longer guarantee secondary premium.
• Many LEs are colour-swaps of existing models, not technical differences.

What still works

• Sub-50 piece editions with technical novelty.
• Editions tied to historical milestones (real anniversaries, not "5 years of Instagram").
• Editions where the design changes materially from the base model.

If the only difference is the dial colour and a serial number, it's a marketing exercise.
