Should You Polish Your Watch?

Polish if

• The watch is your daily wear, not an investment piece.
• Scratches affect the look meaningfully.
• You're willing to lose ~0.1mm of metal each polish.

DON'T polish if

• The watch is vintage or pre-owned with patina.
• Original chamfers and brushed surfaces matter to you.
• The case has applied gold or PVD coating.

Where to polish

Manufacturer service centres always (they re-cut original bevels). Independent polishers can ruin a case forever — over-polished Rolex bezels lose value 15–25%.

For most modern watches: 1 polish per 8–10 years is sufficient.
