Brand Stories
In 2017, GS became its own brand outside Japan. Here's why it mattered.

Grand Seiko launched in 1960 with one goal: beat the Swiss at their own game. The early GS models matched COSC chronometer specs at half the price.
For 57 years GS sat under the Seiko corporate umbrella outside Japan, often retailed alongside ₹15K Seiko 5s. The brand's ₹5L+ Spring Drives were perpetually misunderstood.
In March 2017 Grand Seiko became a standalone international brand with its own boutiques, its own marketing, and the famous GS shield logo on every dial — replacing "Seiko" at 12 o'clock.
Result: GS prices have appreciated 40–60% in the last 5 years, and the brand finally gets the recognition it earned in the 1960s.
