The three essential tools

1. Forked spring-bar tool — slides between strap and lug to push the bar shoulder.
2. Pin pusher — for through-lug-hole watches; pushes pin from outside.
3. Holding tool — keeps the bar in place while you fit the strap.

Quality matters

Cheap spring-bar tools have soft steel forks that bend or scratch. Bergeon 6767-F is the industry standard (~₹2,000). For occasional use, the Horotec 04.038 is half the price and works fine.

DIY hacks to avoid

• Sewing pins — too thin, bend the bar shoulder.
• Razor blades — risk of skin and lug scratch.
• Bobby pins — won't reach far enough.

Spend ₹1,500 once. Don't use kitchen tools.
