Water Resistance Testing

What the test does

A pressure-test chamber simulates depth (typically 60m or 100m for sport models). The watch is monitored for air-loss — any leak shows up.

When to test

• Annually if the watch sees water (showers, pools, swimming).
• Every 3 years for desk-duty pieces.
• After any impact that might have compromised gaskets.
• Before every dive trip if you're a diver.

Cost

• Authorised dealer: ₹500–₹1,500.
• Independent watchmaker: ₹300–₹800.
• DIY: not possible — needs specialised equipment.

Failing a test means new gaskets and crown tube service (~₹3K–₹8K).
